Alex Lynn will be looking to recapture the qualifying form that he enjoyed at the start of the GP2 Series season as the championship moves into its second half in Hungary this weekend.

The 21-year-old from Dunmow heads to the Hungaroring sitting fifth in the GP2 Series standings after finishing fifth and sixth in the two races at Silverstone three weeks ago.

And he heads to round six with the DAMS Racing team knowing a strong performance in qualfying could be crucial to his chances of success.

Lynn, who is also the development driver for the Williams Martini Racing Formula One team, enjoyed top-three grid placings in the opening two races of the season at Bahrain and Barcelona, however, he has been frustrated in the three since then. A combination of bad luck and poor strategic calls from Lynn and his team have seen him well down the starting grid for the last three feature races.

Even though he went from 12th up to fifth at Silverstone, he knows he needs to be higher up the order to give himself a chance to add to the race win he claimed in Spain and feels that he and DAMS are close to achieving that.

Lynn said: “I genuinely feel that every weekend we’re moving forward and I’m sure we’re not far off putting together a good qualifying and a good start to fight for more wins.”

Qualifying in Hungary is due to take place at 2.55pm today (British time), with the feature race at 2.40pm on Saturday and the sprint race at 9.35am on Sunday.
