BOXER Joe Hurn has made it a hat-trick of wins on the professional circuit.

The 29-year-old defeated Liam Griffiths, on a rescheduled show at Norwich’s Mercy nightclub, on Saturday.

He stopped his more experienced southpaw opponent in the second round.

And afterwards the Clacton light middleweight admitted being “over the moon”.

“It went really well,” said the former Clacton County High School pupil, who lives in The Greenway.

“My opponent had had 56 previous pro fights and only been stopped twice.

“I knew he was going to be tough and durable and I thought it might go the distance, but I was really pleased with how I performed.

“I put him down in both the first two rounds, with body and head shots, and I’m starting to feel more relaxed.

“In my first pro fight, I remember rushing and feeling nervous.

“But I’m adapting all the time and was over the moon to win this fight.

“Afterwards, Liam said I was the strongest boy he’s faced and that’s quite a compliment, given the number of fights he’s had.”
