Colchester United manager Tony Humes is hoping the arrival of two new forwards will lead to his side recording a rare home victory tomorrow.

The U's host fellow strugglers Leyton Orient this weekend, having not won at the Weston Homes Community Stadium in League One since last October.

Colchester have lost their last five home league games but Humes is hoping that new signings Chris Porter and Jack Marriott can spur them on to an important victory, in front of their own fans.

Humes said: “We were lacking goals at home but hopefully with more competition up there, everyone will react to it in the right way.

“We have to do better at home - that’s evident and we’re not hiding away from that.

“But our previous five home (league) games have been very similar games.

“We’ve been on top and we haven’t scored the first goal and put ourselves under pressure.

“We have to be better at that - the players know it and we know it and we can’t hide away from it.

“We have to be better and it’s a case of being a little bit more positive and perhaps changing the way we play at home.

“Maybe we’ve been a little bit too expansive when we haven’t got that first goal.

“And if we have conceded the first goal, we can’t concede a second one.

“We need to at least give ourselves a chance to stay in the game.

“The crowd is of massive importance to us - we want to give them something to cheer about.

“We need the crowd to be behind us and support the lads as much as they can."

Colchester lie two points below their opponents Leyton Orient, heading into tomorrow's game.

And the U's know that a win will help them leapfrog their visitors in the table and possibly lift them out of the relegation zone.

Humes added: “Orient have got good players and they’ve still got players from the squad that got to last season’s play-off final.

“But it’s about us and how we carry the game out."
