Witham Town’s woeful away form is going to have a critical effect on their ability to stay in the Ryman League premier division this year unless they sort it out soon, according to manager Garry Kimble.

Their 3-2 defeat at Wingate and Finchley last weekend means Witham have lost six and drawn one of their last seven games on the road.

And with a trip to play-off chasing Billericay Town to come today, Kimble knows an upturn in form is crucial if they want to stay clear of the bottom four places in the table.

He said: “Losing six out of seven isn’t good enough.

“We have gifted goals in those games and it shows that if you don’t pick up players then you will concede two or three in each game.

“Our forward players don’t get time in the box like we seem to give the opposition and I’m looking for a response against Billericay as we need to end this run on the road.”
