David Wright has signed a new one-year contract with Colchester United.
The experienced midfielder has put pen to paper on a new deal which will take him up to the summer of 2015.
Wright, who joined the U's from Crystal Palace in January 2013, has made nearly 50 league and cup appearances for Colchester.
And U's boss Joe Dunne believes it was vital to keep the ex-Ipswich player at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Dunne said: "We need some experience.
"I said at the back end of last season that keeping David would be important.
"He gives us that experience of being able to talk to young players and being able to manage things when sometimes, a manager can't.
"It was very important that we secured his services."
