BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent pulled off a dramatic 3-2 victory at the London Lions to book their place in the last 64 of the FA Vase.
Jake Holman, Liam Whittaker and Scott Page scored the all-important goals on a historic day for the club.
The second-round tie was billed as their biggest-ever game and they started as underdogs.
However, Regent defied the odds – roared on by a coach-load of supporters – to follow up their earlier Vase wins against Team Bury and Whitton United.
“It wasn’t a vintage performance but on chances we edged it,” said ecstatic assistant boss and club secretary Tom Rothery.
The match had to be played yesterday because of the Lions’ ground share arrangements with Hemel Hempstead Town.
