Witham Town progressed to the third round of the Essex Senior Cup with a narrow win over fellow Essex Senior League side Barkingside.
But they had to wait until two minutes from time to score a winner, at Spa Road.
It came from striker Rob Whitnell, after Barkingside were penalised for a handball in the area.
Although the first half finished goal-less, Witham created the better chances.
However, they were unable to make their dominance count and Whitnell was unlucky to see his fierce header hit Barkingside goalkeeper Steve Brown in the face.
There was a marked improvement in Town’s play in the second half, as they attacked the visitors’ goal.
But they found Barkingside goalkeeper Brown in good form and he made some crucial saves.
Witham also missed some good chances but they eventually made the breakthrough from the spot, to secure their passage into the next round.
