Stanway Rovers are on course to face Halstead Town in this season’s FA Cup, after the draw for the early stages of the competition was made today.

Steve Downey’s side travel to play Essex Senior League outfit Clapton, in the extra preliminary round of the competition on August 14.

If they progress from that tie, they will travel to play the winners of the London APSA-Halstead clash, in the preliminary round on August 28.

And the reward for the team that progresses through those two rounds will be a home game against Zamaretto League premier division outfit Bedford Town, on September 11, in the first qualifying round.

Elsewhere in the competition, FC Clacton travel to play Spartan South Midlands League side Kingsbury London Tigers, in the extra preliminary round.

They face Colney Heath or Broxbourne Borough V&E if they progress, followed by a possible tie against Burnham, Chalfont St Peter or Colney Heath in the first qualifying round.
