Braintree start with home match against Farnborough

Braintree Town will kick-off the new Blue Square South season with a home match against newly-promoted Farnborough.

Iron will take on the Hampshire outfit - who were promoted as Southern League champions last season - at Cressing Road on August 14.

Rod Stringer’s side then face two successive away trips.

They travel to play Maidenhead United on Tuesday, August 17.

And they on the road again the following weekend, with a game against St Albans City on August 21.

Stringer said: “We’ve got to play them all home and away but it’s always nice to start with a home game.

“I’m looking forward to it and I’ll also be looking to improve upon the club’s recent record in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy”.
