STANWAY ROVERS will be hoping to put a troubling week in the Ridgeons League premier division behind them when they get back on the Road to Wembley tomorrow.
Having misfired in front of goal and lost 1-0 at Walsham-le-Willows last Saturday, Rovers then conceded four goals on their home turf in mid-week as they were held to a 4-4 draw by Whitton United, however, they now have a chance to move on with FA Cup action.
That action will come in the form of north Essex and Ridgeons League rivals TIPTREE UNITED at Chapel Road when the two will go head to head in the cup’s first qualifying round.
Stanway joint manager Rob Bate said: “There have been positives from the games as we had really good performances.
“On Tuesday we scored lots of goals, but we will have to tighten up for tomorrow.
“We are all staying really positive and it does give us a great opportunity to get back on track.
“The performance was excellent on Tuesday and the number of chances we created was really good.
“We scored four and it could have been more, but on the down side we caused ourselves a problem by conceding bad goals.
“They scored either side of half-time so we were 2-1 down, but we continued to control the game and were 4-2 up and coasting going into the last ten minutes.
“However, we gave away two really bad goals and ended up drawing so we have work to do defensively before the weekend, but we will bounce back.
“It is a cup tie and the local angle gives it an extra spice, but we will go about things the right way.
“We have had a couple of good results in the cup so far this year and want to get another one.”
Bate said he didn’t expect any injury concerns ahead of the game and they would look to take a strong squad to Tiptree.
