COGGESHALL TOWN have taken over at the Thurlow Nunn League summit.

The Seedgrowers have replaced long-time leaders Felixstowe and Walton United after winning 2-0 at Walsham-le-Willows.

Substitute Aaron Cosgrove and Ross Wall scored their second-half goals to make it 29 wins from 37 games.

And with Felixstowe's game at Ely City falling foul of the weather, Coggeshall have now leapfrogged the Suffolk Seasiders.

They are a point clear and also have the advantage of a game in hand.

Elsewhere, there was a dress rehearsal for next month's League Challenge Cup final as BRANTHAM ATHLETIC visited Thetford Town.

However, the Imps were left frustrated after conceding twice late on and being pegged back to 2-2.

Ben Newson scored twice in the first half, starting with a well-taken half-volley, to put them firmly in control at the break.

But Thetford pulled one back and then salvaged an equaliser in stoppage time.

Wet weather led to the postponement of other key premier division fixtures.

The matches between STANWAY ROVERS and Newmarket Town and FC CLACTON and Histon were called off, as was WIVENHOE TOWN'S scheduled trip to high-flying Stowmarket Town.

In the first division, HALSTEAD TOWN'S home date with Norwich United Reserves beat the rain but the Humbugs were left reflecting on a 2-1 defeat.

After falling behind, they levelled through Joe Morris after Jamie Baker's corner was met at the far post by Chris Harris.

Morris turned home a loose ball after a scramble in the box.

However, a simple finish in the second half secured maximum points for the Norfolk side.

HOLLAND FC held on for an exciting 3-2 victory at Diss Town.

The hosts scored early on but Steve Eaton broke the offside trap to equalise after 13 minutes.

Sonny Bastone's curling effort put Holland ahead and a free header allowed them to make it 3-1.

Diss then pulled one back in the latter stages but were unable to salvage a share of the spoils.

There were also five goals in the first division contest between March Town United and BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES but it was the Cambridgeshire side who prevailed 3-2.

The Iron youngsters had at one point led 2-1.

Weather-permitting, Thurlow Nunn League sides will hope to get back in action on Easter Monday.

There are a couple of eye-catching derbies in the premier division, with Wivenhoe entertaining Clacton and Brantham at home to Stanway.

New leaders Coggeshall will home to extend their advantage when they play host to Haverhill Borough.

In division one, it's Holland against Whitton United and Braintree against Team Bury.

Halstead are away to Cornard while LITTLE OAKLEY, who did not have a scheduled fixture on Saturday, travel to Norfolk to meet to Norwich United Reserves.

Unfortunately, more rain is forecast between now and then so it might be that further matches are in danger of being postponed.
