HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS have a second bite of the cherry in their FA Trophy tie against Tonbridge Angels after drawing 3-3.

Five of the goals came in a crazy opening 20 minutes of the first qualifying round encounter at the Longmead Stadium.

Juan Luque put Heybridge ahead after eight minutes and after Daniel Thompson equalised, Sam Bantick restored Swifts’ lead.

However, quickfire goals from Joe Turner and Xavier Vidal turned the tie on its head and put Tonbridge, of the Bostik League premier division, 3-2 ahead.

That was the way it stayed until half-time and it took a goal from Luke Callander nine minutes from time to rescue the draw and set up a replay at the Aspen Waite Arena.

MALDON AND TIPTREE had no problem booking their place in the second qualifying round, winning 3-0 at Bostik League division south side Walton Casuals.

Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe scored their opening two goals, breaking the deadlock and converting a penalty on the stroke of half-time.

Suliaman Bah then put the cherry on the cake five minutes from time.

WITHAM TOWN bowed out of the competition after losing 3-0 at fellow Bostik League division north side Potters Bar Town.

Michael Murray got the ball rolling from the penalty spot and it was followed by goals either side of half-time from Steve Brown and Lee O’Leary.

BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT head to Thamesmead Town on Sunday.

The tie had to be put back a day because Thamesmead groundshare with Dartford, who were in National League South action against St Albans City.
