WIVENHOE TOWN took another huge step towards championship glory after a 5-0 demolition of Debenham LC.

The Dragons are now six points clear at the top of Thurlow Nunn League division one, following Monday's big win at the Maple Tree Cars Stadium.

Ely are the team in second place and both sides have two games left.

The Cambridgeshire outfit host AFC Sudbury Reserves on Wednesday night and Halstead Town on Saturday.

Wivenhoe make the long trip to King's Lynn Reserves on Thursday before a weekend date at home to Needham Market Reserves.

Mo Osman's side have a far superior goal difference, though, so it would take a huge goal swing for them to be knocked off the top - even if they were to lose both games.

Ray Turner gave Wivenhoe an interval lead against Debenham before second-half strikes from Ben Connell, Adam Hampson, Jamie Baker and Hampson again.

Elsewhere on Monday night, Godmanchester Rovers beat BRANTHAM ATHLETIC 4-2.

It means they have climbed to second in the premier division, leapfrogging STANWAY ROVERS.

HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS finished their season on a high note, with a 3-1 victory against Hullbridge Sports in the Tolleshunt D'Arcy Cup final.

Matt Pooley, Jack Barham and Tyrone Alleyne were on target for Jody Brown's side.

Swifts secured their place in the Ryman League on Saturday following a last-day 2-0 victory at home to Phoenix Sports.
