FC CLACTON boss David Coyle believes his side have the “tools” to pick up more Thurlow Nunn League points over Easter.

The Seasiders have won three premier division matches in a row, at Haverhill Rovers, Fakenham and Newmarket.

They won the middle of those fixtures 5-1 on Saturday, followed by a 2-0 success at the Jockeys’ Cricket Field Road ground on Tuesday night.

Coyle admits his side have a major challenge on their hands this weekend, with tough matches at Mildenhall Town on Saturday and Stanway Rovers on Bank Holiday Monday (both 3pm).

However, he insists that on their day, his players can cause problems for anyone.

“We’ve got three or four extremely tough games coming up,” he said.

“We’re right up against it, in terms of reeling in the teams above us.

“Obviously, I want to win both this weekend but we have to be realistic and remember that we’re playing two of the best sides in the league, whereas our recent wins have come against sides in the bottom seven.

“Mildenhall are the best team we’ve played this season.

“And Stanway may be our rivals geographically, but the two clubs are very different in terms of where they want to get to and where we want to get to.

“That said, we’ve got the tools to beat any team in the league on our day.

“We’ve got players who can cause problems and pull goals out of nowhere – which could be vital in a game where it might take something special to get anything.”

Clacton are four points above Saffron Walden and Newmarket, in tenth and 11th.

“We’ve opened up a gap between ourselves and the teams below,” said Coyle.

“We’ll have to go on a seriously bad run to finish below 12th spot.

“We’re on course for a top-half finish and, as I’ve said before, that would be a phenomenal achievement.”
