FC CLACTON boss David Coyle was delighted to see his side notch another victory – but has warned that they must be even more ruthless in front of goal.

The Seasiders ran out 3-0 winners at Haverhill Rovers in the Thurlow Nunn League on Tuesday night.

It was a success that steered them up to an impressive tenth place in the premier division table.

However, Coyle admitted his side missed a stack of other chances – opportunities that need to be taken in tighter games against stronger opponents.

“I don’t think we played quite as well as last week (when Haverhill won 2-0 at the Bowl), in terms of our passing football,” he said.

“But on chances created, it was every bit as one-sided and we missed an absolute hat-full.

“Every time we went forward, we were getting crosses in or having shots at goal.

“We could have scored double figures, quite comfortably, and that’s being conservative.

“We wasted so many opportunities and I can remember ten balls being played across the six-yard box and coming out the other side, with no-one applying a finishing touch.

“Jack Clampin came off in the second half and admitted he alone could have scored five – and he’s one of our midfielders.”
