Heybridge Swifts fell to defeat against high-flying Thurrock.

They lost out 3-1 in their Ryman League division north match at Ship Lane.

Swifts took the lead on seven minutes through George Cole.

But Michael Toner brought the sides level when he equalised on 26 minutes.

And Thurrock took the lead when Toner stuck again to make it 2-1 three minutes later.

The home side increased their lead in the second half when Ross Gleed made it 3-1 on 81 minutes.

Brightlingsea Regent secured a great 3-1 win against visiting Romford at North Road.

Regent took the lead from a corner when Phil Kelly’s bullet header found the back of the net on nine minutes.

But Romford came back into the game when Nick Reynolds got on the end of a cross to fire into the goal on 24 minutes.

Josh Gould then went close for Regent but Michael Gooch made a great save in the Romford goal to keep the sides level.

But Regent went back in front when a good cross from Ricky Griggs saw Josh Gould head home on 38 minutes.

Russell Malton went close to extending Brightlingsea’s lead after the break.

His fierce shot from 40 yards hit the bar, rebounded off the keeper and went wide.

But the home side did increase their lead when Jake Clowlsey made it 3-1 on 77 minutes, scoring his first goal for the club.

Witham Town lost out 2-1 against visiting Harlow Town.

The home side took the lead on ten minutes when George Cocklin fired in a free-kick from the edge of the area over the wall and into the goal.

But Harlow equalised 24 minutes later when Ryan Melaugh’s free-kick was dropped onto his post by keeper Lewis Down and then rebounded off him into the goal.

Harlow took the lead early in the second half from the penalty spot.

Mario Noto’s free-kick was handled in the box and and Alex Read made no mistake with his spot-kick making it 2-1 on 47 minutes.

Maldon and Tiptree were left kicking their heels on Saturday afternoon.

Their match at home against AFC Sudbury was postponed after the Park Drive pitch was deemed unplayable.
