JODY Brown was disappointed the Heybridge Swifts match against Wroxham had to be postponed.

The sides were supposed to meet in a Ryman League division north encounter on Tuesday night at Scraley Road.

However, the game was called off following a midday pitch inspection.

Swifts boss Brown was hoping to get back in action quickly following the disappointment of their 2-1 defeat against Maldon and Tiptree on Saturday.

He had felt that the Wroxham game could help to boost them up the table, after beating them 3-0 back in December.

Brown said: “It’s a massive shame the game was off.

“We really want to play and bounce back after Saturday and put points on the board.

“No disrespect to Wroxham but it was a game we had targeted for points.

“We beat them at their place last month and we know what a long midweek trip is like.

“We now have to wait for the weekend and the away trip to Thurrock.

“That is going to be a tough game, but we are going to prepare well and hopefully go there and cause an upset.”

Heybridge had taken the lead on Saturday through a Jamie Guy penalty on 33 minutes.

Kieran Monlouis pulled the Jammers level on 76 minutes before Charley Edge secured the win with a scrambled goal on 90 minutes.

Brown said: “I was really disappointed that we didn’t get anything out of the game against Maldon.

“I am still disappointed now, also disappointed that we didn’t get any points over the Christmas period.

“I think we were on top in the first half and had we taken some of the chances we created then it could have been a different story.

“But there were positives to take from our performance and I think we deserved something from the game.”
