STRIKER Josh Mayhew has been placed on the transfer list by Brightlingsea Regent.

The former Witham Town, Brantham Athletic, Hadleigh United and Leiston man has struggled to settle since joining in the summer and found his game-time limited.

The club and player have now decided a parting of the ways might be best for both.

“Josh is good lad who has lots to offer,” said Regent boss James Webster.

“He’s a very talented football who will score goals at this level. I’ve no doubt about that.

“It’s just unfortunate that our playing style and system hasn’t suited him and he’s found it hard to settle.

“He moves on with our blessing and has always conducted himself in a very professional manner.”

Ryman League north division side Brightlingsea will be looking for a fee, as the 24-year-old still has months to run on his FA contract.

The 6ft 4in striker scored four goals for the club, against Redbridge, AFC Sudbury, Soham Town Rangers and Needham Market.

Play-off chasing Regent head to Wroxham on Saturday before hosting Waltham Abbey on Tuesday night.
