STANWAY ROVERS hat-trick hero Jamie Shaw reached a personal milestone in his side’s derby win at FC Clacton.

The former West Bergholt striker smashed a treble to see his side to a 4-2 success at the Rush Green Bowl.

It swelled his tally to 17 goals – which is already more than the 16 managed by last season’s top scorer, Jordan Palmer.

It was also his first hat-trick for Stanway and first at Thurlow Nunn League level.

“I was really pleased,” said the striker.

“Heading into the game, I knew I was two short of last season’s top goal-scorer, so it’s great for me to have passed that tally before the new year.

“My target at the start of the season was 20 goals, so I’m very pleased to be on 17. I certainly didn’t expect it.

“My target is still 20, but as soon as I can get there I’ll set myself a new one.

“If I could surpass 30, it would be an amazing achievement but I’m just going to take it one game at a time.

“You never know what’s going to happen at this level.

“Things can change and players come and go, so I’m staying grounded.”
