BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT have snapped up midfielder Jake Clowsley from STANWAY ROVERS.

The speedy wide man has joined James Webster’s squad in time for tonight’s Ryman League north division derby at HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS.

“Jake’s a player we’ve admired for a while and always thought highly of,” said the Regent boss, whose side were without a game on Saturday following the postponement of their match at Redbridge.

“He’s tenacious, hard-working and plays with an edge.

“When we heard he was available, we were very keen to get him in and we look forward to working with him.”

Meanwhile, Regent under-18 midfielder Sam Hodder is heading in the opposite direction, to Stanway.

He is initially joining on a one-month loan.

“Sam going out on loan is a great opportunity for him to get some first-team experience,” added Webster.

“He’s a very talented young player and we wish him the best of luck in the next four weeks.”

Stanway boss Angelo Harrop admitted it was a blow to lose Clowsley.

But he added that it was a compliment Ryman League sides are keeping close tabs on his talented Thurlow Nunn League squad.

“It’s a big shame because Jake’s been an important player for us,” said Harrop.

“When you have good players and don’t make the step up, this kind of thing is always going to happen.

“But’s all about rebuilding now and the club should take it as a good thing that clubs in a higher divisions are coming in for our players.

“It shows me must be doing something right.”
