Heybridge Swifts lost out to visiting Thurrock on Good Friday.
Swifts fell to a 2-0 Ryman League division one north defeat at Scraley Road to leave the visitors one point off the play-off places.
Thurrock started the game in control and pressured the Heybridge goal.
The visitors hit the bar twice before Bradley Warner gave Thurrock the lead on 23 minutes.
Swifts then had a mountain to climb as a mistake from keeper Niklas Freund let in Thurrock’s Leslie Thompson to make it 2-0.
Just before half-time Billy Hunt had a chance for Swifts but it was deflected wide.
Swifts came out strongly after the break, Thurrock keeper Rhys Madden had to be at his best to prevent Sam West scoring and then he had to make three quick saves in a row to deny the home side.
However, Swifts couldn’t add to the score and Thurrock held on to take the three points.
