HEYBRIDGE Swifts took the bragging rights in their Dengie derby match with Burnham Ramblers.

A solitary goal from Shamido Pedulu saw Swifts win the Ryman League division one north encounter against the basement side.

Early shots on goal from Ramblers from Alex Anderson and Bertie Brayley brought out saves from the Swifts keeper whilst Dave Collins sent a 22-yard free kick a foot over the bar just after the half hour.

Just before the break Ramblers saw an attack break down, Swifts’ George Cocklin released Shamido Pedulu who ran through to crash the ball past keeper Matt Belcher off the underside of the bar on 43 minutes.

It was Heybridge that were quick off the mark as the second half got under way.

Ade Cole went close twice inside four minutes.

Heybridge remained in control with Pedulu seeing a shot from tipped over while defender Sam West blocked a good effort from Brayley.

Swifts kept Ramblers out to claim the three points.

Maldon and Tiptree lost out 1-0 at Chatham Town.

A goal from Lewis Knight on 72 minutes gave the home side the win.

Brightlingsea Regent secured a 1-0 success against visiting Ware.

Matt Cripps’ early goal was enough to secure three precious points and keep them in the hunt for the play-offs.

Regent are eighth and seven points behind fifth-placed Brentwood.

Brightlingsea took an 11th-minute lead, after the ball was played in from the right by Ricky Griggs.

Centre-half Cripps, unmarked, steered the ball home from close range.

Ware keeper Tom Coulton had already made two great saves by that point and he went on to keep his side in the game – including one stop to keep out a spectacular volley by Ben Newson.

The visitors were reduced to ten men when Charlie Ledula was shown his second yellow card, in the 42ndminute.

Anthony Thomas then saw red in the closing seconds, as the visitors finished with only nine on the pitch.

Josh Casey gave the home side the lead on nine minutes.

But Witham equalised on 24 minutes through Chris Bryan.
