Heybridge Swifts were held to a draw after a great start against Brentwood Town.
The visitors had to settle for a share of the spoils after a 3-3 Ryman League division one north draw on Tuesday night.
Heybridge opened the scoring on 27 minutes.
A free-kick from Joe Pearman wasn’t dealt with and Sam West volleyed home into an empty net.
And four minutes later Swifts doubled their advantage as a cross found Jack Barham at the back post and he tucked it into the back of the net.
Brentwood started the second half quickly as Daryl Robson crossed for Tom Richardson to pull a goal back for the home side on 47 minutes.
Swifts restored their two-goal advantage on 61 minutes when Barham’s cross was misjudged by Brentwood keeper Ollie Bowles and went straight in.
On 87 minutes, Sam Bantick smashed home for the Brentwood to make it 3-2 after a goal-mouth scramble.
And Bantick salvaged a point for the home side with a free-kick in injury-time.
