NEW Heybridge Swifts boss Cliff Akurang made it two wins out of two with victory at Thurrock.

Akurang added to his squad with three new faces in the side for Saturday’s match at Thurrock.

Emmanuel Monthe, Charlie Hunter and Marcel Henry-Francis were all in the starting line-up for their Ryman League division one north match at Ship Lane.

Thurrock had an early chance when Joel Nouble back-heeled the ball to Ross Wall but he fired his shot over the bar on two minutes.

Joe Pearman then had a chance but his effort was easily dealt with by Thurrock keeper Andre Walker.

On 15 minutes Henry-Francis brought a diving save out of Walker as he shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Heybridge then won a free-kick when Henry-Francis was brought down at the edge of the area but Hunter’s free-kick was straight at keeper Walker.

And it was Heybridge that made the breakthrough on 21 minutes when Hunt’s shot wasn’t held by Walker allowing Henry-Francis to slide in and score on his debut.

After the break, Kurt Smith hit a powerful free-kick for the home side but it went over the bar.

Then it was the turn on Henry-Francis to test Walker again forcing him into a one-handed-save.

Thurrock went close on 77 minutes when Hazlewood’s shot narrowly went wide of the post.

The home side went close again on 88 minutes when Gilman’s header was cleared on the goal-line by the head of Hunter.

Alan Kimble’s Maldon and Tiptree returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win against visiting Thamesmead Town.

And after a string of four games that saw the Jammers pick up five red cards they finished the match with all 11 players on the pitch.

After a goal-less first half, it was Nathan Korangten who opened the scoring on 57 minutes.

Tunde Adewunni then added the second four minutes later.

Burnham Ramblers fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Aveley.

The home side’s Spencer Harrison opened their account with a goal on 12 minutes.

He added a second on 53 minutes before Theo Ola wrapped up the scoring with their third on 78 minutes.

In the Ryman Premier division, Witham Town lost out to a solitary goal at Dulwich Hamlet.

Xavier Vidal hit the winner on 59 minutes.
