WIVENHOE TOWN’S eagerly-awaited derby at home to FC CLACTON is already a “major doubt”, according to Dragons boss Mo Osman.
The Maple Tree Cars Stadium is still water-logged from the recent heavy rainfall.
And with more due yesterday and today, there is only a slim chance tomorrow’s contest will go ahead.
Wivenhoe, who have been using a pump to remove surface water from the pitch, will try their hardest to get the surface in a playable condition.
But a pitch inspection will take place later today, probably early evening, and the indications do not look good.
“Unfortunately, the match is in major doubt,” said Osman.
“We’ll do everything we can but there’s already a lot of standing water on the pitch - and that’s before more rain today.”
