Maldon make an approach for Seasiders star Aaron
MALDON and Tiptree have made a seven-day approach for FC Clacton striker Aaron Condon.
The front man has enjoyed a remarkable start to the season, smashing 14 goals.
Condon’s heroics were bound to alert clubs from higher up the non-league pyramid and Maldon, of Ryman One North, made official contact on Monday.
However, Seasiders boss Ray Turner has waived the approach, meaning they are free to speak to his player whenever they like.
“I’ve spoken to Aaron and told him to speak to Maldon, to see what they have to say,” said Turner.
“I’d never stop a player progressing and Maldon are a big club with lots of ambition.
“Aaron has a lot to think about, but he has my full support.”
Condon has made plenty of headlines this season, especially during the Seasiders’ run to the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Among the highlights, he scored a dramatic hat-trick at Brentwood Town and then grabbed another two in a replay against the same opposition, at the Rush Green Bowl.
Stanway Rovers made an approach for him during the summer but he decided to stay at Clacton.
Then Rovers boss Barry Lakin is now assistant manager at Maldon, alongside boss Terry Spillane.
