Maldon and Tiptree and Burnham Ramblers fight out an eight-goal thriller
10:16pm Tuesday 17th September 2013 in Non-league football
There were goals galore at Park Drive in another pulsating derby match.
Maldon and Tiptree were held to a 4-4 draw by visiting Burnham Ramblers in their Ryman League division one north on Tuesday night.
Billy Hunt opened the scoring for the visitors on 13 minutes and it looked as if Maldon were still suffering a hangover from Saturday’s 2-0 FA Cup defeat by rivals Heybridge Swifts.
But the home side were soon back on level terms when Chris Bryan equalised five minutes later, smashing the ball into the top corner.
Maldon then went in front when Joe Gardner scored three minutes before half-time.
Jack Stevenson then increased Maldon’s lead on 52 minutes with a shot from 20 yards.
But Burnham battled back into the game when Bradley Nobbs’ shot took a deflection to deceive Wray in the Maldon goal ten minutes later.
Ramblers then shocked the home side to pull it level on 70 minutes.
But the goals kept coming and Tommy Spillane put Maldon 4-3 in front on 82 minutes.
However, the drama wasn’t over and Burnham salvaged a point with an equalising goal five minutes later.
