An early setback didn’t deter AFC Pegasus as they returned from a first-minute deficit to win the Thornavon Knockout Cup with a 3-1 defeat of Real BTS.

BTS made a great start with a lob over the keeper into the back of the Pegasus net in the opening minute at Wivenhoe Town’s Broad Lane ground, but Pegasus settled to equalise through Webb and went on to win it with goals from B Higgins and a Cowans penalty.

There was just one game in the premier division and it saw AFC Phoenix making a great stab at taking top spot and the championship.

They beat Bayern Monkwick 10-1 with Townrow and Thorne both getting hat-tricks and Craig and Taylor both scoring two.

This puts AFC Phoenix top with AFC Pegasus playing their final game next week and needing to win by 11 goals to grab the title on goal difference.

In division one, Brightlingsea Regent drew their final match with Chappel and Wakes Colne 2-2 and were confirmed winners of the division.

Sauka and Barton scored for the Regent with Davis and Leggett replying for Chappel.

An own goal gave AFC Pegasus Reserves the lead against Highwoods Foxash, but Evans grabbed an equaliser for Highwoods that earned a draw.

Both teams have identical records, with Pegasus taking third spot on goal difference.

CUSA beat St Edmunds 3-2 thanks to goals from Boswell, Sharpe and Jackson.

Division two champions of Bayern Monkwick Reserves finished with a win and reached the 50 points mark with a 5-3 home win against Colne Star.

Allen, Moody, Campbell, Murrells and Dalziel got the goals for Bayern, who ended the season unbeaten.

In division three, Borussia Thorpmund took on Norfolk Destroyers in a double-header and came away with all six points after 2-0 and 4-1 victories.

On target were Joseph and Wiggett in the first match and Joseph (2), Ribchester and Boyce in the second.

Corecalona took on St Edmunds Reserves in a division five double-header and won the first 1-0 thanks to a Napolitano strike, while the second ended 5-5 with Thorpmund goals coming from Halls, Taylor, Napolitano and two own goals.

AFC Colchester went 3-0 behind to Chappel and Wakes Colne Reserves, before storming back to take division six’s runners-up spot with a 7-3 win.

Scoring for AFC were Pushman (3), Bethell (3) and Bayes.
