Amos Cup finalists are decided

The sides due to do battle in this year’s KP Evans and Co Colchester and East Essex League Amos Cup have been decided, with Colne Engaine playing Wimpole 2000.

The match will take place at Wivenhoe Town Football Club on Boxing Day (kick-off 11am).

Colne Engaine beat Tollesbury 3-0, with goals from Tom Owen, L Brown and S Kings, while goals from S Spires, D Wells and J Pearce gave Wimpole 2000 victory against Ardleigh in a very passionate 3-2 win.

The premier division saw Harwich and Parkeston A cement their place at the top after beating Oyster 6-0.

S Cooper-Sutton, with four, was the star with one apiece coming from Craig Martin and A Edwards.

In the only other game, Kirby restored a bit of pride, gaining three points against Colchester Hotspurs in a 2-0 win.

M Lewis and S Deacon were the heroes of the day.

Real Ravensdale stay unbeaten in division one, beating rivals for the title St Ives 3-2.

Losing 2-1 with five minutes to go, they staged a rapid recovery, scoring two goals to take the points.

Gary Skeggs with two and R Beet scored the all-important goals.

Stoke by Nayland picked up three valuable points, beating Colchester Athletic 2-0 with goals from M Rose and Damian Wade.

University of Essex’s fourth team beat Cinque Port in a very hard-fought match.

J Sainsbury and J Quigley did the damage.

Castle picked up all the points on offer against Colchester Hotspurs, where Warren Slack got three of the four goals in the 4-1 win.

Division two had the biggest surprise.

Wimpole 2000 Reserves were 5-2 up at one time but only managed a 6-6 draw with Nayland Rangers.

G Hunnable scored two for Wimpole and, not to be outdone, D Tomoroga got two for Nayland.

After all that, Feering stay top of the table after beating Wormingford Reserves 3-2.

The marksmen were A Cook, C Fitzpatrick and G Gillies.

The University of Essex fifth team stay in second place after an easy win over New Field 8-2.

E Greaves, D Newson (4), A Pearce and L Shaw (2) were the destroyers.

FC Clacton A and Great Bentley A played out a 1-1 draw.

Finally, divison three had FCC XI going to town against Lexden, winning 11-1.

Five here for A Condon were the highlight of the game.

Sudbury Athletic A continue to surprise everybody, this time Colchester Athletic Reserves, winning 4-2 with C Prince getting two, R Prince and J Lavery the others.
