LAST summer, Chris Wright played just two LV County Championship matches for Middlesex and, come the season's end, the young seamer knew his long-term future lay elsewhere.
Having decided to leave Lord's, the 23-year-old signed for Essex on a two-year contract and, so far, his decision has proved to be a good one.
The likeable Wright has already taken six wickets in his two championship appearances to date.
And the 22-year-old is itching to add to that tally when his former county arrive at the Ford County Ground for a four-day clash this morning.
Wright insisted old friendships would mean nothing once he crossed the boundary rope.
"We played them in pre-season and it was really good to see the guys again," said the paceman.
"They know me and I know them, so it's going to be an interesting game."
Wright spent four seasons in the Middlesex first XI squad and his intimate knowledge of the county's strengths and weaknesses could be vital in Mark Pettini's side securing their second championship victory of the season.
"We will obviously have a chat before the game about the opposition," he added.
"They have a quality batting line-up so there's not that many weaknesses you can point out there.
"Generally, we have just got to bowl as many good balls as we can.
"There are not that many secrets about them and if there were, I'm sure our older guys will have worked them out already."
