Essex Eagles' match against Gloucestershire Gladiators is cancelled

TODAY'S scheduled CB40 match between Gloucestershire Gladiators and visitors Essex Eagles at Cheltenham has been called off due to a wet outfield at the festival ground.

The decision was made following a pitch inspection this afternoon and means both teams will take a point from the match.

Today's cancelled game came after the County Championship match between the two teams also finished in a draw.

The final day's play match was abandoned yesterday without a ball bowled more than an hour before the scheduled 11am start.

So much rain had fallen overnight that umpires Tim Robinson and S Ravi decided with one inspection that there could be no prospect of play.

The third day was also washed out and Gloucestershire were due to resume their first innings on 284 for four.

The home side took five points and Essex four.
