Hadleigh lose top spot following draw

Hadleigh &THUNDERSLEY put on a battling batting display to earn a draw at home to Fives & Heronians on Saturday.

It earned them six points but saw them surrender top spot to Chingford, who beat Harlow at home by 79 runs.

Hadleigh won the toss and put their visitors into bat and they responded with 217-7 off their 52 overs.

In the reply, Joe Robbins was the first man out for 30 and when Tom Phillippe went they were on 54-2.

They were 114-5 with 20 overs to go at John Burrows Park.

But a good knock from Dan Boughtwood helped them to 186-9 off their allotted 47 overs and a share of the spoils.

Hadleigh spokesman Jon Wagstaff said: “We were disappointed not to have won, but in the end we were relieved to have earned a draw.”

SOUTHEND & EMT drew at home to Hainault & Clayhall after Ben Wathen top-scored with an unbeaten 90.

Shafi Mohammad Tanvir added 38 and Modassar Ibrahim 20 as the Seasiders scored 185 all out Ibrahim took 5-35 as Hainault reached 151-8, with Mousshin Ismail hitting 42.

ORSETT lost by 11 runs away to Loughton.
