THE hunt is on at Essex to find a world-class replacement for spinner Danish Kaneria.

The overseas star will be available for the first three months of Essex’s season, but then he will be on international duty, as Pakistan face Australia.

Kaneria is such an integral part of Essex’s side that he has to be replaced, as Essex look to enjoy a successful season after winning promotion back to division one of the LV County Championship.

But finding the right replacement will not be easy, according to Essex coach Paul Grayson.

He said: “We would like a world-class spinner to come in while Danish is with Pakistan.

“But India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand are playing at the same time so it won’t be easy to find the right man.”
