Former Colchester United goalkeeper Ben Williams has signed for Hibernian on a two-year deal.

The shot-stopper, who left the U's last week after his contract expired at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, will play his football at Easter Road next season after agreeing to join the Scottish Premier League side.

Williams joined Colchester in 2009 and made more than 120 appearances for the League One club.

U's boss John Ward has said that Mark Cousins will be his number one goalkeeper this season, following Williams' departure.

What happened to his desire for Championship football?

Hibs have home crowds no greater than typical English Division One.

Did he panic when an offer didn't come? How many others are like this - think John Ward is playing a cunning game - waiting for the bargains (striker?) arising when the greedy realise that they are not getting the offers they seek

Personally I thought he could have done a lot better than joining Hibs. He has openly stated his personal reasons for leaving Colchester, which was nothing to due with money. Yes I think he is star gazing into heaven, but certainly the wrong direction with Scotish football which is mostly Div 1 standard players apart from Celtic and the defunct Rangers.

Quite dissapointing this and I fear he has sold himself short. Scotish prem is a much lower standard than the championship, especially given that Rangers are gone. Considering he said a few weeks ago that he was settled in the area. Geography not a strong point for Ben....guess that would explain his directionless kicking. Anyway good luck Ben but, more importantly, good luck to Mark Cousins.

Natural wastage, Ward is letting them jump ship which makes his life so much easier.
