Izzet ready to sign new contract with Colchester
9:19am Wednesday 27th June 2012 in Sport By Jonathan Waldron
Sign on the dotted line - U's midfielder Kem Izzet is expected to sign his new contract at Colchester United in the next few days.
Kem Izzet is on the verge of signing his new contract with Colchester United.
The U’s skipper is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal with the U’s “within the next few days”.
Izzet, 31, sees his current deal at the Weston Homes Community Stadium expire this summer.
However, the long-serving midfielder was offered a new contract by Colchester in April.
Like Ward, Izzet has recently been away on holiday, which has delayed the process of him committing his future to the U’s.
However, he is now back at the club he has served for more than 11 years and is ready to sign on the dotted line.
Izzet said: “I’m not too far off signing my new contract.
“Hopefully, it should all be done in the next few days.”
See Wednesday's Gazette for more on this story and all of the latest Colchester United news.

Here is some facts about Kem.
Under John Ward,No one has started more games for Colchester. He has started 76 (along with Wordsworth).
Under Aidy Boothroyd, Izzet was the 7th highest starter (still on a high 34 starts and 7 subs).
Under Paul Lambert Izzet started 43 games and only Mark Yeates started more (44 games).
Under Geraint Williams, Izzet started over 90 games in the championship. No one else got close to this.
Under Phil Parkinson, Izzet started 89 games and only kevin Watson (who started over 100!!!!) started and played more.

Seven weeks later he has still not signed a new contract.
Izzet's contract offer should now be withdrawn.
Here are four facts about Izzet:
1.He will be 32 in September
and he is unlikely to get any quicker or sharper.
2.He has not scored a league goal in three seasons and he has scored only three league goals in eight seasons.
3.He was not an automatic first team choice in Phil Parkinson's 2005-2006 promotion winning team and that season he made
only nineteen league starts, plus another fourteen from the bench.
4.In ten seasons (2002-2012)
he has committed 396 fouls
(correct,396)and he has been booked fifty seven times
(and that's just in league matches).

Now trying to catch up on the latest Col Utd news the last couple weeks and it seems little has happened since being away. Nothing to get excited with, but someone did tell me that they had seen John Ward at the ground sitting in the dug out watching for the grass to grow. We have certainly missed out on one good centre back from the lower divisions. Troy Archibald -Henville has joined Swindon from Exeter. A better player than Magnus in my books. But hey Di Canio is a mug by some people on here. Swindon have even started training with seven new signings and have gone to Italy for two weeks of intense training and to adapt mentaly. This is a club going places and what i like to see. Their season tickets have doubled from last year. WAKE UP COWLING BEFORE ITS TO LATE.

Just got back from the Euro's . Seing the England manager out there I thought it was John Ward in disguise. At least all the English fans were in agreement that he showed very little passion on the touchline and Garry Neville should have been in full charge. A good experience however with plenty of good natured banter from fans from various clubs.

You are the only dog with one trick not Kem, and that is the inability to talk about anything other than Ward and Cowling.

I also see today that Freddie Sears is now a free agent and J.W. plans to have a talk with him. Any manager on the ball would have done that already and had irons in the fire if you was considering someone to add to your squad. Okay I might be wrong on this, hands held up high. Hopefully he might consider us but I am sure a few other teams will be in for him as well, and thats why its so important to get your foot in the door first. To me John Ward is far to laid back and okay next week will do, is certainly not good enough for me. The saying goes he who hesitates is lost. Cowling knows nothing about football and his business brain is not what it used to be and he two don't mix. Ward has the pace of a striking slug when it comes to new signings, can't remember the song but it's Bon Jovi and he mentions " he is stuck in some basement and the good s**ts gone" Ward is in the same basement? I would love my home town team to do well next season but I just can't see it?

I don't like Cowling, and Ward does strike me as a yes man. But SW's right, crazy's full of erroneous facts and propaganda, and seemingly, worst of all, about himself. Not for the first time he claims to be a life-long successful businessman. But he has also told us, that back in 2001, he got sacked for racism from a job as a van driver. So just what was this tycoon doing in a low paid job? Seems the class dunce is actually a life-long dunce, because he's forgotten the most important rule of lying. Remember what lies you tell, and who you tell them to.
