Lloyd James has snubbed the offer of a new deal at Colchester United.

The midfielder is considering his next move, after rejecting the contract offered to him by the U’s.

James, 24, who had a spell on loan at Crawley Town at the end of last season, will see his current deal expire next month.

And the former Southampton youngster could be on his way out of the Weston Homes Community Stadium, after turning down the chance to stay at Colchester.

So yet another out of contract player rejects the U's offer of continuing at Colchester. Very sad really and I guess it is a reflection of where the club is financially. I hear rumours that Magnus has also rejected the offer proposed by Colchester and may be joining Celtic or Derby. Will there be a squad of players available next week when they report back for training? Still no news of any potential newcomers/additions to the squad. It is all a bit concerning. Maybe the transfers will happen when the clubs report back for training next week. Hope so. Up the U's!

The 2012-13 Division One player budget must be below 65% of gate and similar revenues (plus gained transfer fees). Last year the U's budget was 100%. Something has to give. Most other smaller clubs are also in need of a huge shake down.

Ashley Vincent has also said no, but hasn't found a new employer (rejected by Notts County) and now James is gambling with his future too. Would you walk away from your current employment in today's economic climate with no alternative offer?

Let's give some credit to Cowling and Ward. I think they are waiting for some bargains once players get their sensible heads on and have nowhere to go. Frankly, we didnt miss James when at Crawley.

No loss. Couldn't tackle to save his life, poor passing ability and went missing for large chunks of the matches that I saw last season.

Ward needs to start getting replacements in, instead of waiting to see if the likes of Izzet and Williams are going to re-sign or not.

Noah 4x4 I too would try to put a positive spin on this, however I don't think we can disguise the whiff of discontent at the club can we? When a player see others move on they chance their arm. But I feel that Cowling and Ward are playing a very dangerous game, but one that they can't really lose. On the one hand they will try and get the new contracts for less money and if that fails and the players leave they will blame the new financial structure imposed on them. Fasten your seatbelts we are in for a rocky ride

Although I think that James is a good player and has the ability to get better, I do think that he may have to drop down a division to get regular games and become the dominating match enforcer that is screaming out from within him. Perhaps a Burton albion or Dagenham would suit him at this stage then lets see where his career goes.

It was worth taking the punt on him when Southampton released him.

I would like to say a BIG up to Magnus who has stated that he would like to play in the Championship, but would only play for Colchester in league 1. We all know he has the ability to play at a higher level. And who would deny him the chance, but to show loyalty to COL - U puts some others to shame. Well i for one would like to say a big THANK YOU to the big man.

Magnus is to be given more time to decide whether he wants to stay with the U's,according to the club's website. He has already had nearly eight weeks -since the end of last season - in which to make up his mind. How much more time can the U's afford to give him,if they are then forced to find a replacement before the start of next season?.And how much more time do Williams and Izzet need if their contracts expire on Saturday?.If Williams and Izzet still haven't decided next week, the club should make up their minds for them and put the money saved from their wages towards a decent striker and by 'decent' I mean not another cut-price, inexperienced on-loan Watford reserve dud,but a permanent signing who can actually score regularly.

No loss here really, he was one of those all to familiar stroll around players we could do without. Some good points made, I guess we'll have to wait until the 1st July when the contracts end and the club know who's available!

I only saw Lloyd play in one game for Crawley last season while on loan and he was a different class. Crawley play football as a team and he has never been given that chance at Colchester under Ward. Being a former Saints player he is a good footballer and the kind of football we play does not suit his game. He is doing the right thing in moving on.
