Colchester United head coach John McGreal is reluctant to comment on speculation linking them with Cheltenham Town midfielder, Harry Pell.
The U's have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, who was born in Essex and still has another year remaining on his current contract at Whaddon Road.
Colchester are believed to be long-term admirers of the player, who has made 41 appearances for the Robins this season and scored six goals.
But with two games of the season still remaining, U's boss McGreal refused to be drawn on the speculation.
McGreal said: “I think you’ll get quite a number of names over the next two to three weeks.
“I’m not going to speak about any player that is associated with another club, at this moment in time.
“I’ve had phone calls today to say that I’ve been linked with X, Y and Z and there’s nothing to report on, at this moment in time."
Colchester’s under-15s will host their Southampton counterparts after the U's first-team match against Swindon Town at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, on Saturday.
Supporters can watch the U’s take on the Saints in the Floodlit Shield in a 5.45pm kick-off - admission is free.
