Colchester United were 3-2 winners at Swindon Town on Friday night.

Goals from Frankie Kent, Mikael Mandron and Sammie Szmodics gave the U's all three points at the County Ground.

The result sees Colchester move up to fifth in the League Two table, and John McGreal’s men host Port Vale, next weekend.

Here, Colchester United reporter Jonathan Waldron rates the players following another fine victory on the road:

SAM WALKER 7

Showed safe handling throughout and had little chance with Swindon’s goals.

RYAN JACKSON 7

Was generally solid but gave away debatable free-kick for Swindon's opening goal.

TOM EASTMAN 8

Another competent defensive display by the long-serving U’s centre-back.

FRANKIE KENT 8

Took his first-half goal really well and was effective in the air. Booked.

KANE VINCENT-YOUNG 8

Impressive. Dominant in the air and looked dangerous going forward.

BRANDON COMLEY 7

Never stopped working in midfield and helped Colchester dominate possession.

TOM LAPSLIE 8

U’s skipper provided the platform for Colchester’s creative players to carve out attacks.

KYEL REID 8

U’s man of the match. Provided the assists for Kent and Mandron on return to the side.

DREY WRIGHT 8

Provided the assist for Szmodics’ winner and looked effective on the right flank.

SAMMIE SZMODICS 8

Bagged Colchester’s late winner and also had an effort tipped into the side netting. Booked.

MIKAEL MANDRON 8

Scored with a bullet header and led the Colchester attack impressively throughout.
