Nicke Kabamba looks set to return to parent club Portsmouth when his loan at Colchester United ends next month.

The 24-year-old striker appears to have indicated in a post on social media that has now been deleted that he is going back to Fratton Park when his loan expires in January.

Kabamba joined the U's on loan from the League One side in August but has found starting opportunities few and far between, since then.

He has not started a league game for Colchester since mid-September and has made just four starts for them in all competitions, with his last appearance coming in the U's 2-0 Checkatrade Trophy defeat at Essex rivals Southend United, last month.

The former Hemel Hempstead striker has not scored for Colchester during his time in Essex.

And it appears his spell at the Weston Homes Community Stadium is now drawing to a close, especially with the U's forward options boosted by the imminent return of Kurtis Guthrie from injury.

Kabamba is one of four players who are due to see their respective loans at the U's expire next month, with the future of Brandon Comley, Brandon Hanlan and Kyel Reid yet to be confirmed.
