Colchester United midfielder Tom Lapslie is targeting a perfect dozen from their remaining four League Two fixtures as they pursue a play-off spot.
The U’s lie two points off the top seven following their 1-1 draw with already-promoted Doncaster Rovers and head to Morecambe on Monday in search of more precious points, as the season draws to an exciting conclusion.
Lapslie said: “There’s four points left and we want 12 points.
“We’re not going to go down without fighting – we want to go right to the end and be in the play-offs as much as the coaching staff and the fans.”
Colchester led against Doncaster through Brennan Dickenson’s excellent strike and skipper Chris Porter struck a post soon after but the visitors rescued a point thanks to Mathieu Baudry’s header, just before half-time.
Lapslie said: “It was a battle but it was a great performance by the boys.
“We probably deserved three points but Doncaster are a quality side and a point was probably fair, at the end of the day.
“I love those kind of games, up against good opposition – they’re a physical side but they have great players as well.
“You want to pit yourself against the top of the league and I feel as though we held our own.
“I think that any opposing team that comes here knows that we’re a quality side especially at home and we started well again.
“I can’t remember when we haven’t done that at home and we got another early goal.
“It’s a shame that we didn’t get a second and kick on but they’re a top side.
“Conceding just before half-time hit us right in the gut really because we felt that we dominated the first half.
“I won’t lie, we were a bit deflated at half-time but the boys picked themselves up again and went again in the second half.
“We could have had a penalty but it’s one of those things and hopefully, one of them will go our way.
“It’s a little bit disappointing we didn’t win but I think before the game, a lot of people would have taken a point although we were going for the three.
“They’re a great side and you want to pit yourself against those teams.”
