Colchester United came from behind to beat Airbus UK Broughton 3-2 in a pre-season friendly in Wales tonight.

Goals from Chris Porter, Kurtis Guthrie and a deflected Drey Wright strike secured the U's a third victory in as many friendlies in the warm-up match, staged as part of John McGreal's training camp in Cheshire.

Colchester fell behind in the 11th minute when Kevin Monteiro shot past goalkeeper Dillon Barnes.

But the U's were level seven minutes later when Porter converted from Sammie Szmodics' pass.

After going in level at the break, Colchester stepped up their efforts in the second half with Brennan Dickenson forcing the Airbus goalkeeper to palm his free-kick over the bar, on the hour mark.

And after Denny Johnstone fired just wide, Colchester took the lead for the first time in the game just after the midway point of the second period through Guthrie, who converted Dickenson's cross to score.

Wright's deflected shot made it 3-1 to the visitors with seven minutes to go and although Airbus pulled a goal back before the end, it was not enough to prevent the U's from claiming victory.

The only downside to the night for Colchester was seemingly a potential injury to Guthrie, who hobbled off before the end.

Colchester United starting line-up (first half): Barnes, Brindley, Wynter, Elokobi, O'Donoghue, Loft, Slater, Wright, Szmodics, Sembie-Ferris, Porter.

Second half: Barnes, Vincent-Young, Kent, Prosser, Wynter, Lapslie, Slater, Dickenson, Guthrie, Bonne, Johnstone.
