Marvin Sordell is set to sign for League One side Coventry City following his release from Colchester United at the end of last season.

The 25-year-old, who scored six goals in 25 league and cup appearances for the U's last season, is expected to sign for the Sky Blues on a free transfer.

Sordell joined Colchester on a free transfer last September and made a positive impression in his first few weeks at his new club, scoring twice in his first five games and not finishing on the losing side.

But his strike in the U's 4-4 draw with Walsall in October proved to be his final league goal for the club.

And Colchester's FA Cup defeat against Spurs at the end of January was his last game for the club, after ankle surgery cut short his season.

Now Sordell will be hoping to make an impact with Coventry in League One and get back to the kind of form that helped him become a Premier League striker.
