Alex Wynter played for more than an hour for Colchester United's under-21s this afternoon after making his first competitive appearance since suffering a serious head injury against Tottenham Hotspur.

The U's centre-half returned to action in their 2-1 defeat against Millwall at Florence Park, having been out since suffering concussion in the club's FA Cup loss at the hands of Spurs, at the end of January.

Kyron Farrell gave Millwall the lead and although Chris Regis equalised for Colchester, David Edgar grabbed the Lions' winner.

The defeat damages Colchester's chances of claiming runners-up spot in Professional Development League Two.

John McGreal's side are next in action on Monday when they travel to play Leeds United.
