Matt Briggs is a big doubt for Colchester United’s home game with Oldham Athletic on Tuesday night with a leg injury after being forced out of their game with Peterborough United.
Briggs was injured by Joe Gormley’s rash challenge in the closing stages of the first half, in the U’s 2-1 defeat at London Road.
Gormley was only booked for the challenge and U’s boss Tony Humes thought it should have been a red card for the Posh player.
Humes said: “It was a two-footed tackle and I thought it was a red card, probably like everybody else in the ground.
“Hopefully it’s not long-term but we’ll just have to see how long it is.
“If it’s bone bruising it could be a bit longer but we just have to let it settle down and see what happens.”
