JOE Edwards believes he has made a sound choice in joining Colchester United.

The midfielder was snapped up from Yeovil Town earlier this month and has already caught the eye in pre-season, most recently shining in Tuesday’s victory against Ipswich Town.

Edwards and his team-mates will now be looking to follow it up with another success in tomorrow’s final friendly, at home to Fulham.

And he says he has been heartily impressed with the club during his first month in north Essex.

“I’m so impressed by the players here,” said the 24-year-old, who joined on a one-year contract with the option of a further year.

“It’s a young, enthusiastic squad and there’s a lot of quality.

“It’s a great environment to be part of."
