David Fox says he has a point to prove after linking up with Colchester United for a second time.

And the talented playmaker believes he returns to the U’s a better player than when he left.

Fox has signed a three-month deal at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, having been a free agent since leaving Norwich City in the summer.

And after linking up again with the side he made 21 appearances for in the 2009-10 season, the 30-year-old says he is hungry to do well.

He said: “I feel like I have a point to prove to a lot of people and hopefully that’ll be reflected in the performances I produce for Colchester.

“I had no qualms about dropping back into League One - I just want to play.

“When you’re not playing, it gets more and more frustrating with every week that goes by and it’s been far too long.

“I think I’ve come back to Colchester as a better player to when I left.

“I have a lot more experience now and I’ve been lucky enough to see how the top players do things.

“I’ve been fortunate to play with some top, top players and seen how they go about their business.

“To work under Paul Lambert at Norwich for two years was a great experience for me.”

Fox is now one of Colchester’s most experienced players, with the club now putting their faith in their academy.

And while he is looking forward to playing plenty of games himself, the midfielder is keen to also help the U’s youngsters with their development.

“Colchester is a club I know and I already know Tony Humes from his time in charge of the youth set-up,” said Fox.

“I know exactly how he likes the game to be played and it’s a chance to get some football under my belt.

“That’s something I haven’t really had for two years now.

“I enjoyed my time at Colchester last time I was here, even though I didn’t play as much as I would have liked.

“Only Magnus Okuonghae is still here from my time here previously and they have a very young squad.

“There’s been a big turnover of players and the young players the club have are all very eager to do well and prove something.

“I hope I can play a part in helping them progress.”
