Tony Humes admits he may feel a few nerves ahead of his first game as Colchester United manager today.

Humes will take charge of the U's for the first time this afternoon when his side take on Walsall, at the Bescot Stadium.

Humes said: “I hope I’ll be calm come kick-off time - whether or not I will be I don’t know!

“It’s something I’ve never done before and I’m sure they’ll be nerves and excitement.

“We just want to implement what we’ve done over the last few days.

“Hopefully the players will play with enthusiasm and enjoyment to put a good performance in."

Colchester head into today's match still searching for their first win of the season, having drawn one and lost four of their opening five games.

But despite their winless run, Humes believes his players should be going into the game believing that they can claim three points.

He said: “At this level, every game is winnable and the potential is there to do that.

“We have to look at it that way, whether it’s Walsall or Leyton Orient the following week.

“No game will be any different and we have to go out and win it.

“We have to have that positive attitude and that belief and confidence to do that."
