Colchester United have snapped up left-back Ben Gordon from Ross County.

Gordon, 23, spent time at Leeds United and Chelsea as a youngster and also had loan spells at the likes of Yeovil Town and Birmingham City.

He spent last season at Scottish Premier League side Ross County.

U's boss Joe Dunne said: “Ben is a very attack-minded full-back and the move to Scotland has probably helped his defensive game.

“I initially saw him when he was at Chelsea and he’s had a few loans to other clubs where it hasn’t quite worked out.

“But we’ve tried to target certain players and playing in Scotland requires a lot of energy and tenacity.”

Gordon said: "As soon as I heard of the interest, it was a big thing for me to get back to English football having played in Scotland last season.

"It's a massive opportunity for me and I'm looking forward to it.

"I enjoyed my time in Scotland and getting first-team football but now I'm looking to impress in England."
