ROTHERHAM United manager Steve Evans felt his side fully deserved their share of the spoils at Roots Hall.

The Millers secured a 1-1 draw against Southend United when Johnny Mullins scrambled the ball home two minutes from time.

And Evans was full of praise for his players.

“I thought for an hour we were simply outstanding,” said Evans.

“In the first half we were the dominant side which is hard to be here at Roots Hall.

“But we opened them up time after time and we could’ve executed some situations better before they scored a wonder strike through Kevan Hurst, who I gave a league debut to at Sheffield United.

“After that I didn’t think it was going to be our day after a goal of that quality was scored against us but we worried their defence and we went attack minded towards the end.

“We got some dangerous balls into the box which in the end gave us the equaliser which I felt we deserved.”
