Michael Rose will be aiming to help Colchester United end their losing streak against Scunthorpe United tomorrow.

But the attacking full-back might easily have been lining up against the U’s, had events panned out differently.

Rose turned out 16 times for Iron, after spending a four-month loan spell with them during the 2005-06 season.

The 30-year-old played under current Scunthorpe manager Brian Laws, during his first spell in charge at Glanford Park.

Laws was keen to sign Rose permanently but the deal did not materialise and the defender eventually joined Stockport County.

Rose said: “I’m still waiting for Brian to ring me back - he said he was going to offer me a contract!

“Never mind - that’s football and you move on.

“I enjoyed it up there and it’s a good club but hopefully we can beat them tomorrow.

“It would be a great lift for everybody to get three points, from the players to the groundstaff."
